Ingrown toenails are one of the most common foot conditions treated in the office. They can be very painful, especially if they get infected. If not treated properly right away, there is a chance you will be required to undergo a minor procedure.
The procedure is done under local anesthesia. Dr. Chaudhry then removes the ingrown side of the toenail. Phenol is administered right after to kill the roots to ensure there is no re-occurrence.
After the procedure, you will have a small bandage on your toe for two days. During that time, you will soak your toe in warm water and Epsom salts; twice a day. After two days, you remove the bandage and continue to soak twice a day; placing polysporin and a bandaid on after. While healing, you are able to continue your daily activities, as long as your wearing proper foot wear.
Dr. Chaudhry monitors your recovery by seeing you in the office for follow ups weekly or biweekly until you are fully recovered. Usually takes up to two months to be completely healed.
